Blog – Corona Vacation

So I know that we’re not supposed to think of this as a vacation, but I can’t help it. It’s just how my mind works. It’s my way to keep positive. I have to think of the disruptions as a much-needed break from everyday busyness. So what are we doing with ourselves? Well, pretty much the same as always. Since we homeschool, the kids routines are not interrupted at all. I’m having a hard time focusing, but I will buckle down soon and get some studying done. But here’s the thing: I don’t want to become too busy doing “useful” things (worrying about Toilet paper or how many new daily infections there are, etc.) that I miss out on the opportunity to slow down and accomplish the quality things. So here’s a list of things that we can all do that will help us get through and be blessed by this little episode.
Spring clean the house – always a good idea
De-clutter spaces that have been bothering you – it can be mindless work, perfect for when you can’t concentrate.:)
Read a good book
Play with your kids
Spend more time cooking your meals – use this time to learn how to cook if you don’t know how
Start a daily exercise routine – because endorphins make you happy and happy people just don’t kill their husbands
Spend more time in prayer – pray for friends and family, for the country, and for the world
Start working on your summer tan
Start your garden
Take time to breathe

I know that these have all been suggested in numerous emails and texts, but we need to realize that they really are important. These simple tasks help to calm our minds and then our bodies follow suit. So don’t underestimate the benefits of letting the daily grind slow down a little. Let our bodies get a chance to rejuvenate.

Don’t forget that many people that are in service-oriented jobs are getting really hit by all of this. So let’s rise up as Christians and shower these individuals with help. This is a huge opportunity for the church as a whole to show the world the love of Christ. So pray for wisdom that God will lead you to the families and individuals that you can help. God is good all the time.

2 Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
